The Lightsmith platform started out as one teacher’s solution to a problem in his own classroom. Several years ago, he was teaching in a technology-invested school district. He had a laptop, a ceiling-mounted projector, and several student computers at his disposal.
He wanted a visual presenter to round out his tool collection, but soon realized that he could not afford the $2700 expense.
As a DV enthusiast, it was only a matter of time before it dawned on him that camcorders and visual presenters have essentially the same functions. Like Archimedes and his famous lever, all that the camcorder really lacked was the right place to stand.
Our company goal is to help schools utilize the impressive advances and falling prices of camcorder technology to help engage students in challenging multimedia learning. It turns out that you actually can have your cake and eat it too.
